I also saw that Kolbe on Hudson Valley CL for years. Did your father make many mandolins? Is he still active? This crowd is always interested in more information about lesser known makers.

Yes he still makes mandolins and other stringed instruments as well. He is based out of Chester, South Carolina still. He recently made a Facebook page, it's under "Kolbe stringed Instruments" .
Unfortunately there's not a lot of content on the Facebook page but it's here.

Hi, this is too funny. I saw the same mandolin on CL for Venice Florida. I never heard of the maker so I came here and what a story. Still brand new. I'm about 45 min from Venice but I don't think it's worth the trip. Too suspicious.
