I haven't been able to play for 11 days now due to this wrist injury. (Dequervains Tenosynovitis- an inflammation of the thumb extensors...) Not playing was fine for a week but now the frustration is mounting.
In lieu, I'm trying to work on my vocals which have long needed work. In the long run, this could all be a good thing. I'll fix the source of tension that caused the injury and also learn to sing better.
I'm pretty good at self-study and research, so I don't think I will end up looking for the needle-in-a-haystack "good" vocal couch, although I'm not opposed to it.
Does anyone out there have any advice for learning to sing better?
I seem to have trouble staying in the same key if unaccompanied, and also differentiating between using my head voice and chest voice. I'm trying to avoid singing "nasally" which my wife has alerted me too.
Thanks in advance. I'm looking forward to honing my skill on the most versatile of all instruments, the human voice.
For now, I will practice singing scales and learning to memorize certain notes.
I've taken my electronic tuner and I'm working on memorizing notes, like how to sing a middle C by memory. It's been neat to see that I can remember what that note is by memory with a lot of work, (like learning the middle C is 261.625 hertz).
Musical knowledge is expanding at least during all this.
I digress... Thanks again.
