    Default Update on Calace Repairs

A couple of summers ago, I acquired my Calace. It had an ugly looking repair on the neck near the headstock, but it was suspected to only be a repair to the veneer...but when I had someone look at it, they said it was definitely more than the veneer and that it might hold a month or many years.

Then, one not so fine day in November, I took my mandolin out to practice and noticed the tuning was way off...and I soon found out why...

It lasted two years (with me)

So off to the luthier it went...it's been a little slower process than I hoped (he admitted to leaving it on the back burner)...but I got an update today (I was hoping to get it back this week...there might still be hope).

What was hoping to be just a crack that came unglued...turned out to be a complete break...

Keeping my fingers crossed that I can get it by the end of the week...or at least in time for the recital I'm playing on in two weeks!

Mandolins never look good with their necks broken! It looks like a clean break and thats good. Hopefully after the repair there will be no problems with it, good luck
