I'm sorry to have to announce the sudden demise of Norman Giorno-Calapristi of Philadelphia late last night. It is a shock to all of us who were fortunate enough to know him. I can't say enough about how his enthusiasm for our ancestors' music became the basis for my own investigations. While Norman wrote the Foreword to "Italian Mandolin Heroes in America", he was really the reason why I began writing that book; in addition, he collaborated and helped to build this ballo liscio dropbox that has welcomed thousands of visitors and taught so many about the dance music as it was reborn on American soil. I'll try to write a more complete obituary at some point. Thank you all for making Norman's dreams come true. His grandfather would have been so happy to know that the music he left behind now lives on amongst us. Sheri~
