While certain elements might be classical in flavor, this mazurka exemplifies the stylistic musical ideal of ballo liscio. It is an exceptional piece that establishes the framework for this tradition. Too bad he died before he could enjoy the flourishing era with Canora, Gioč, Sartori, Tafarella, Silvestri, Becucci and others but every great tradition needs a pioneer. Just two suggestions: Mazurkas must be played faster so it will flow more easily, and the third beat needs to be a bit more prominent to distinguish it from the lilting waltz.
