    Default Introduction

Hello fellow mandolinists, I am new to this forum so, if this kind of thread does not belong here, I apologize and I will take no offense if it is moved or deleted.

Anyway, in addition to being new to this forum, I am also new to (or, rather, starting again with) the mandolin. From the time I was 4-years-old to the age of fifteen, I practiced violin. As much as I admire the violin (along with most other instruments I've heard of), playing it seemed like a chore. After eleven years, I wanted to study a different instrument. I finally settled on the mandolin and, two years ago, I purchased a 2011 Ibanez M510E-DVS. It is picture in my profile and avatar. Funny story: I bought it new but at a used price because of a barely noticeable, aesthetic flaw (some fingerprints under the varnish in the back).

I took some lessons but I was not a very good student because I had a lot going on in my life at the time. My teacher retired about six months after I started and I stopped practicing for a while. Recently, I decide to start up again. I hope to learn a lot on this forum.

After you get into the swing of it you may want to give us a critique of your mando. What you like or don't like about it. Folks are always interested.

Welcome! This is the place to be. Don't be afraid to ask any questions, no matter how silly you may think they are. They aren't! I've been playing about 8 months and am pleased with my progress so far but I know I have a long way to go. Welcome!
