Just saw this on the npr.org site, Nickel Creek at Newport Folk Fest 2014. What is he playing? Maybe a Brunkalla zouk?
Here's the NPR link with audio:

Flatiron bouzouki.
There are three kinds of people: those of us that are good at math and those that are not.
Ah, a Flatiron! Don't know why I didn't think of that. Looks like he's still getting some good use out of it.
Thanks all!
I believe he used this zouk in This Side, a Nickel Creek song. Pretty cool!
He's used it on a number of tracks. Sounds good in his hands, but then pretty much anything does.
On this song he gets kind of a punk rock vibe from it:
Never mind that. What the heck is Sara doing? Looks a bit awkward, eh? Or it could be she is about to launch herself at Chris. Hmmm ... maybe what he is playing is defense!

Due to current budgetary restrictions the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off -- sorry about the inconvenience.
Chris played an A style mandolin for several songs when they played the Forecastle festival in Louisville KY. I was interested in what the model was... Glad to see about the zouk though! One question answered. Perhaps one of you knows what the A
model is?

Aha! Figures.
There is a LOT more at the NPR site, including the whole show on audio, and a few others' as well. Man! It is NOT like it was in the old days, when you hoped you might find someone who taped a show on halfway decent equipment, and could trade something for a copy. Here it is, the whole show, pristine sound right from the soundboard, with the ease of a click. Where was this when all those shows I REALLY wanted to catch but couldn't were going on? Oh, all the taping and trading was kind of fun and exciting, but wow - this would have been nice. Oh well!
Anyway ... thanks for the post and links!

A little off-topic. Just a little.
What's the amplification he use on the mandolin these days? Is the famous AT350 without the "giraffe flexo"?
