Wow - and I've been here since even before my join date says, and have never clicked on "New Posts" until now. In fact, it had entirely escaped my notice. However, I don't think I'll find it useful, as I prefer to see the whole layout of sections, and go to the one that appeals to me at the moment (and there are some sections that I never read, too).

I have to admit that for the last few weeks the first things I have tended to look at are the controversies of the day - currently - 'More "Studies" on Practice vs Innate Ability' and 'What is a Celtic Mandolin?'

Thesaurus entries for controversy - disagreement, dispute, argument, debate, dissension, contention, disputation, altercation, wrangle, wrangling, quarrel, quarrelling, storm, war of words, cause célèbre, hot potato, minefield.

All of the above indeed except perhaps hot potato and cause célèbre. And maybe the "storms" are of the teacup kind.

Why, oh why, are these either/or debates so compelling?

My order of exploration of the Cafe is usually to open the Random Builder site in a new tab (I like to see what all these artisans are coming up with, not necessarily shopping, just browsing), then check out the daily Classifieds in the box. Then it's on to the forums. I also like the tidbits at the head of the page, but I don't always click on them.
