    Default game of Scrabble

So there I was, playing my worst favorite game (of all time) Scrabble last night. Didn't have many good tiles, but I did have enough to place mando. The other players said "what? that's not a real word." Sure, I said, it's a mandolin. We didn't have a dictionary, or a computer to search for "mando", so I couldn't use it. Please let's tell the scrabble dictionary group to add that word, they did put in hashtag.
    I think, therefore, I pick.

I, too, have faced this issue while playing Scrabble. The official Scrabble dictionary is woefully lacking.

Mando... mandolin? mandola? mandocello? mandobass? a Danish island? a type of music? the name of a garage band? the name of a singer? an foreign automotive corporation? colloquial/slang for mandolin? This is just from a very cursory scan of the Inter. So many meanings, only a couple of which are proper names, the rest slang? I don't think that proper names and slang are permitted in Scrab unless it's in the Official Scrab Dict. Just my input. Gotta go now and reheat my morning beverage in the micro.

I love Scrabble but my wife won't play me because she says I try too hard to beat her! So I played on the computer but I switched to an iMac a few months ago and there is no game of Scrabble available for the latest Apple Macs. Still, it gives me more time to play mando (sic).

Oh sir! You know very well "mando" is not a word but an improper contraction - not even that, but a colloquialism, or even worse, a lazy construction (perhaps coined by banjo pickers who have been known to have trouble with polysyllabic verbiage formations) - not recognized by Lexicographical Irregulars, the Bluegrass Police, or any other governing body. You do yourself and all lovers of the mandolin a disservice by attempting to bend the rules to your nefarious desires. Be a mandolinist, sir! Play hard and fast but fair. The authorities have been notified.

You could have used the same letters to make "monad," a legitimate word.

"Monad (music), a single note, in contradistinction to a dyad, triad, tetrad, etc."

Or damon. But I don't know if that's a word. The Red Sox used to have Johnny Damon, but they let him go to the Yankees.

I tried to play "MANDO" on Words with Friends and it wasn't an allowable word either.

What's wrong with nomad? That's a real word; mando is just an abbreviation for mandola.

I have a couple of those Rigel 10-string mandolin/mandola hybrids, and "mando" is the word I always go with.
And, I'm proud to add, my family would've accepted it as a legit word. (Is "legit" allowed in Scrabble?)

I could never take games seriously - you might say I played to break the rules.
The few times I played Scrabble I invented plausible words as I went (this being the real fun), so words like these would have been exactly my cup of tea

On the subject of inventing words while playing scrabble? That was one of my favourite rule breakersssss!
Now I wonder can we have a word mandospeak? mandoscrabble? and when sound becomes untidy and notes scrambled can we have a game of scramandolin? or where mandola sound is concerned: scramndola??? Oh dear I've now become redic and no longer legit!

This has got my head all "Scrabbled" up.....When I was younger I told my friends that I wanted to be a comedian, and they all laughed at me....So now I am a "Mando" picker....Mando must not be a good word because I just typed it in and it came up with a red underline so my computer won`t accept it, did a spell check and got nothing also...
