Steve, that is classic! Nice work brother!
Just because I haven't posted anything here for a while, here's one of the things I'm working on.
The mahogany that this neck blank is made from is not wide enough for a peghead. This guitar is to have a slotted peghead so I didn't want to glue "ears" to the sides, and instead I went back in time for this V joint. This gives me straight grain in the peghead (rather than the severe run out in the peghead of a one-piece neck) while hiding glue lines through design and construction features. The "diamond volute" will be carved later.

The same guitar has this "stellar" rosette!

Your joinery is indistinguishable from perfect, John, at least in a photo on the internet. I'm trying to imagine me having to lay out that joint and it blows all the geometry circuits in my head.

Clark, my first test on scrap went pretty well, and I left plenty of material and proceeded slowly. It's one of those things where experience sure can really speed things up!
