Thanks, Jeff. I attended the Festival of Cape Breton Fiddling way back in 1977 and saw Buddy play as well as other of the last generation of the "royal" musician families up there.

More bad news David............Jean Redpath died this morning in Arizona, she had been fighting the big 'C' for some time.
For those who don't know,Jean was a Scottish singer, who specialised in the songs of Robert Burns.
She moved to America in the 60's and famously shared a flat with Bob Dylan.

Nice piece about Buddy's funeral Celebration in today's Halifax Chronicle Herald. It was held in Judique, Cape Breton, yesterday. A couple of dozen fiddler's led by Kinnon Beaton, his brother in law. Betty Lou Beaton, Buddy's sister accompanied on piano. It is a good read, I wish I knew how to link it in here. Buddy MacMaster would have turned 90 in October. It is the loss of a great talent and a fine individual.
He was a Telegraph Operator and Rail Station Master For Canadian National Railways. He could be heard playing at the station when work was slow. His retirement brought him to the teaching and helping of other musicians as well as the playing in concerts and at dances that he became known for. The paper says he was a humble man who was more interested in his fellow human beings than any recognition they could offer.
