Where can I purchase a "small mandolin" case -- something to fit a small A style mandolin. [American Conservatory] The body length [including the neck and head] is 23", the width of the mandolin body is 9 1/4" -- does anyone make a small case that fits this?

There is an individual that posts occasionally here that can make a fitted case to the needed outline . a couple hundred bux.

perhaps he will notice this item, or do a site search.

or you may need to just pad the inside of a commonly available one ..
'eggcrate' mattress toppers are a good source of foam .

Thanks for the tip. When this discussion had no immediate replies, I was thinking the mandolin was going to be homeless.

It does make me wonder what manufacturers did for the short scale mandolins back in the early 20's? Gig bags? A ukelele case?

Right now, it's in a chipboard mando case, but the case just swamps it, even with a towel.

I've also called Mandolin Bros to see if they have something in stock.

    Hello,
I'll make you one if you'd like.
I got a couple Gibson shortneck A-style cases ready to go, but it sound like yours is even smaller than that. Probably needs to be custom.

I made some pads out of closed cell polyurethane foam to make my Mid Missouri fit in a large rectangular case. I covered the foam pieces with good quality "quilting" flannel made up on a sewing machine. Perhaps something like that will do for you. A strip or 2 of 1/2 in. thick stuff to line the inside of a normal size mandolin case and fill up the gap. Just a thought.

I have this one for my old A. Its a gig bag type but its more like a case. Not cheap like most gigbags. And room for strings, tuners, picks, and that stuff.
