Default 2015 Centrum Choro Workshop Registration Now Open

If you have ever wanted to get an intensive workshop in Brazilian Choro music, without going to Brazil, the next (7th) Annual Centrum Choro workshop is now open for registration. This has been a fabulous time over the last 6 years. The workshop starts on Wednesday April 22nd and runs through noon on Sunday April 26.

We have the returning faculty of Dudu Maia on bandolim, Anat Cohen on clarinet, Jovino Santos Neto on piano and accordian, Douglas Lora on 7 string guitar, his brother Alexandre on pandeiro, and this year we will be adding Eduardo Neves on flute and saxophone.

Those who came in the last two years were treated to the exciting addition of Anat Cohen's amazing clarinet playing. We assume Eduardo will help raise the game again as well! It is gratifying that this small attempt six years ago to create a place to learn Choro ensemble in North America has endured and grown.

Please feel free to pass this onto friends who may play these instruments. We always welcome different players. We've even had a banjo player attend one year! Of course, a basic understanding of how to read music is almost mandatory. The charts we work off of are all standard notation.

We also intend to do a night of Forro music for dancing for a larger more public audience, and likely will have another wonderful jam session in something bigger than the kitchen, as we did last year!

Cost is $405. Room and board is an extra $490. We often have alternative places for some folks to stay in town if costs are an issue. Contact me early if that is needed.

We are now just over three months away. If any of you are thinking of doing the workshop, it would be good to register soon. Thanks! We have a good number already, but still have openings. Any questions?
