The recent discussion about Calace mandolins started by Tim Logan got me thinking a bit about my own. Having seen Calace labels on Cafe postings from time to time, I had never seen one as "simple" as the one I have ... until I looked this evening and found this thread. There is a label similar to mine posted above by vic-victor, but mine, which seems to be from 1921, lacks the portrait (dang!). Anyway, I'm adding it here just to keep all the variants in one place.

I though I'd share my label, the different thing is that the address is crossed out, maybe the company moved around 1916 and they were using up some old ones.

2021 label. Received my model D end of July, 2021. Just noticed the label is incorrect as it specifies a model A. Will contact Annamaria Calace as clearing customs was quite an adventure with FedEx, US Customs, Calace and the Dept. of Fish and Wildlife.

My mistake . . . label states Type A, not Model A. Type A as opposed to type F.

The label on the left seems odd. In Italian, the word brothers is "fratelli" -- not "fratres."

Also, Calace mandolins were made in Naples -- Napoli in Italian. The odd label says it was made in "Neapoli," which is a city in Sardinia.

This makes me conclude that you have a nice-looking, but possibly odd-duck mandolin.

Well, fratres is Latin for brothers / fratelli and Neapoli is also the old Greek name for Naples / Napoli, which is also Neapolis in Latin

I've got a fair number of Fratres Calace mandolins in my files.

I seem to recall these being discussed here somewhere and will have a look.

Some kind of marketing ploy for a dealer in Switzerland? Or maybe I'm remembering that all wrong.

Nicola and Raffaele Calace worked together for awhile and had various labels for their joint work, as well as individual efforts.

"Fecerunt" is also Latin: "They made it" ...
