"Un Pensiero Notturno" (A Thought in the Night) is an Italian-American waltz written by S. Persico. The earliest date I could find for the tune is 1907, when Wurlitzer listed a piano roll for this tune. The Library of Congress lists a 1911 mandolin arrangement published by Tesio, and there were at least two recordings of the tune, by "G. Iasilli & His Orchestra" (listed in the UCLA music collection) and by "The Seneca Instrumental Quartet" on Victor Records in 1927. Thus, it seems that the tune had a reasonable popularity in the Italian community for at least twenty years. I'm not aware of any post-1920s recordings or performances.

My recording is based on an undated edition for two mandolins and guitar published by Di Bella Music in New York, and uploaded by Sheri in her Dropbox thread. I have played all three parts, and have added a bass line on mandocello.
