Default Music fr. the movie, "The Wind Rises"

Last night I saw Hayao Miyazaki's "The Wind Rises," which has a beautiful sound track by Joe Hisaishi. It has several themes, and the first, Journey, used guitar (or maybe paino) and mandolin.

I wonder if anyone knows about that piece being published for mandolin?

Can't help with that one, but I've come across a very nice mandolin quartet version of another movie theme by Hisaishi: "Summer" from the 1999 Takeshi Kitano movie "Kikujiro":

    I found a mandolin arrangement here: https://www.dlmarket.jp/products/detail/235388

If you don't read Japanese, use the Google Translate dropdown in the upper left, next to the DL Market logo. I was able to register & check out with no problems using a credit card. ¥324 comes out to about $2.76 USD at the moment. It's in standard notation despite the "solo tablature" tag.

Here's Joe Hisaishi with the New Japan Philharmonic World Dream Orchestra performing "The Wind Rises Suite No. 2". Interestingly, a balalaika is used in the Journey theme...a mandolin does come in around 14:37, for Castorp's theme.

Here is the embedded Youtube video. The reason it wasn't showing up in your posting is that the Cafe's "YOUTUBE" tag takes only the 11-letter video ID as its option, i.e. the bit after "v=", not the entire URL.
