My friend got really lucky, he got all three nights times 2! He offered me a night, however I had to pass sadly.

Yeah, I'm still waiting. No reject, but not confirmation email yet either. As Jerry used to sing (covering Jimmy Cliff) - "Sitting here in limbo, waiting for the dice to roll..."
I think ticketmaster just broke a G string

Well, I've ended my Ticketmaster attempts ... got to play mandolin as I watched wait screen for 2 hrs so aside from getting shut out (or give up), it wasn't a total loss...
I've still not heard about my mail-order, so there's still hope..
Should I get completely shut out, and should there be any Cafe' members who have a couple of extra tix that they just don't know what to do with them ... I'm around ....

Bump for what's gonna be a fun weekend. Going Saturday and Sunday.
Have not been deep into it in 20 years, but somehow got tickets. Guess I need to dust off the 200 tapes from my parents basement. And buy a walkman from ebay for $2.
No mail order, no tickets, few folks I know got them.
Sad my long strange trip has to end with ticketing hassles.
If they don't do a quality at home stream, I will be very unhappy. Phish Halloween is the gold standard (YouTube for stream was great video/audio straight to the hDTV and stereo ... The first couple songs they tried the usual stream via nugs.net I think and it was broken so they went right onto YouTube instead and it was perfect quality and reception)
..... I'm still holding out hope for mail order...
I was at the Old Town School in Chicago on Saturday and the dude in the music store struck up a conversation with me (based one my Dead hat, not my mando playing) and he, too, has not gotten any info on the status of his order. Incidentally, I was there to see Bela Fleck and "Abby" Washburn and I missed Bela in the store by 10 mins ... the dude said Bela walked into the store, looking quite pedestrian in a puffy winter coat, and said, "can I play a banjo or two, my name is Bela." A rather humble guy. I have to tell you, the music Bela and Abby created was stunningly gorgeous ... and they make you feel like an old friend. Remind me to tell you the funny "Earl Skruggs" story ...

Careful what you wish for...
January 2nd, 1972...
Me to a friend:
"Want to go see the Dead? I'll bet there's tickets..."
"I dunno, I'm still fried from New Year's"...
"Awww, man, come on. We could leave in a 1/2 hour and miss the New Riders just perfectly..."
"Aww, OK..."
Our butts hit the seats just as the Dead were hitting the first notes to "Truckin'", 50 feet from the stage in the balcony...
Them were the days...

Too wise. And them were the days...
1978 in Red Rocks, Colorado. Was visiting a family friend with my Mom, heard The Dead were playing that night. My Dead phase was waning by then but said "wth' and went. Scored a ticket that evening, for not much $$, and caught the act. And, hopped the fence backstage and snapped a photo of Garcia with my Kodak Instamatic 104, from 15 feet away or so.
Actually, ....gone are the days...
For some of us that can't go to Chicago

Finally got my MO reject yesterday.
I sent my entry in but failed to get tickets, so I'm going to go see Willie Nelson instead.
My Last Dead show was Mac Court in Eugene , it will remain so.

I briefly thought about mail ordering, but a stadium concert is more than I care do deal with. I saw the Dead when they played at Red Rocks back 2004 when they toured with Warren Haynes. Those were outstanding shows, despite the absence of Jerry. Before that, my last Grateful Dead concert was in '87 at Telluride and the Deadhead scene was wearing thin on me. That probably had an impact on not seening Garcia & Grisman, which I regret. I'll be content, though with the great memories of the 40+ shows I did see.

Talking to some friends about the shows, we were wondering what the expectation level would be and discussed shows we've attended to where over expectations led to a deflated and flat crowd. While the music is the music whatever is happening out in the seats, a show with a bunch of let down people can really hamper the fun.
Jerry Garcia could resurrect from the dead for these shows and some people would probably still complain it wasn't their favorite era of Jerry or his tone was too thin or setlist or ....
Part of the joy of the Grateful Dead was the community and being in the center of the crowd during a great show where everyone was all smiles. I hope that's the way these shows are, but when people are paying $200 for a ticket [and well over that on the secondary market] I'm not sure the happy-go-lucky `off nights are fun too' attitude of the past will resurface.
Anyone going to have a great old time probably can find one, just provided you tune out those who would rather judge than enjoy. I know I'm going to get all the joy out of the music I can out of the last little bit of Grateful Deadness out there.
Sad to hear of the mailorders still coming back without tickets. That's rough.

In retrospect, I'm not disappointed. I also do not really want to be in a stadium like atmosphere. And for me, without Jerry it'd be like seeing the Stones without Jagger.
I've never seen a casino show before and we are looking more forward to seeing Willie then we were the Dead show. Plus the Willie show is way cheaper.
