    Default Armrests and tone gards?

Hey everybody! I was wondering if anybody has been able to combine a tone gard and an armrest on the same mandolin?

Thanks guys! Do you use a McClung? Cumberland? Do you use the 1/2 over the tail piece or all over the tail piece, or the standard? Thanks

I'm not using my ToneGard right now, but I still keep my McClung armrest on my mandolin. They work together, although it takes some careful positioning so they don't tangle with each other. As I recall, I had to relocate one of the pads on the ToneGard so it didn't conflict with the armrest bracket.

I've got the McClung standard and love the feel - I should've gotten one long ago!

Yes, my two mandolins: Gibson A Style and Big Muddy flat top. McClung armrest and tone gard fit like gloves. I used a tone gard on my Washburn F5. Archtops don't always need armrests, but I just like them.

    Got my armrest here: http://hillcountrystringworks.com/armrest5.html

The appropriate place to put the armrest, it's where your arm crosses the bout. You want to center it so that your arm crosses through the middle of it, that's where it will be the most comfortable. It's about playing comfort not looks.
