    Default Listening Suggestions Wanted

I'm looking for some new, as in different, mandolin quartets, orchestras, string ensembles, and such for listening. I'm pretty much in the dark except for the Modern Mandolin Quartet and a few orchestras a cursory iTunes search provides. I've got the Dave Apollon discs and a bunch of other stuff, but I'd really like some string ragtimey stuff --- I really like R. Crumb's Cheap Suit Serenaders. Any suggestions along those lines? I'm up for anything though, old or new. Modern interpreters have better recording quality, but the early stuff is obviously more ... authentic. Thanks for any help.

Ragtime Skeddadlers should be up your street. And the Buckhannon brothers.

Greg Ruby's latest band (Greg Ruby and The Rhythm Runners) has a cool New Orleans vibe. The CD isn't out yet; just a 45 so far.

I play mandolin in a band that plays a lot of early jazz/ragtime. Here is a link to our performance at a TED talk. Hope this is helpful.
