I used Rob's idea about the feeler gauges as nut slot files, but I take them apart and tag them with blue tapes so I can pick them out quickly out of this bunch (which costs only 4$ in my area).

Well i haven't been playing much mandolin, i've been playing other instruments, they're round and have 5 strings. I have to do some bridge foot filing and slotting, so off to make some nut saws using the excellent guide. i have gotten to where i can make inexpensive instruments sound pretty good and loud.

I got myself a $50 a black laminate Mando and went to town using Rob's book. I now feel perfectly comfortable adjusting my more expensive Lafferty F5V. It's mainly helped me for adjusting bridge height and intonation. Yee haa!
