I play with a guy sometimes in Friday night jams who has one of the Big Mon models. The low end on the chop really booms and it screams on double stop tremelos. One of the strongest if not the strongest mandolins I have been around in person. Northfield has built and is building quite the reputation. You should be able to enjoy this one for a long time. Very nice.

Hey Chris, just wondering what you used to create that audio clip. I am a MacBook person, and I also have an iPad.

Hey John, I made the clip with a Tascam DR-05 portable recorder. Then I imported the file to my MacBook, uploaded to Soundcloud, and posted it here. You could use GarageBand with the built in mic on your laptop, send that to your iTunes and then upload to Soundcloud. Once on Soundcloud get the "share" code then go to the advanced options for posting here and you will find a Soundcloud option for embedding the code in your post.

Hope that helps. I want to hear that Weber you just got it looks killer!

    Chris

Nice playing, Chris. You captured the Northfield sound perfectly. These are a best buy in a new F5 style mandolin under $3k, at least in my experience.

Nice creamy sound. Were those the stock strings? Or did you change them? The sustain is heavenly. Nice purchase.

Yes those were the stock strings. That sound clip was made within an hour of the instruments arrival. I believe they are the D'Addario EXP74s and they are still sounding good after 10 or so hours of playing time over the last few days. I'm loving this mando for sure
