Default Just pulled the trigger on this one

Hey everyone, I felt the need to upgrade from my Rover RM-75, so I ordered this. http://www.themusicemporium.com/prod...-sunburst.html

It was brought to my attention here on the front page a few weeks ago and every time I went back to look, it was still for sale. I was in the market for an upgrade and just had to have this. It should be here tomorrow. I'll post pics and a sound clip if I can.

    Cheers,
    Chris

Considering that the Northfield brand mandolins have a great reputation & are played by quite a few top players, that instrument should fulfill your mando.desires for a long time. To get an idea regarding just how good they can sound, here's Adam Steffey playing several different models :- http://youtu.be/-dakTwb4fX4,
    Ivan
    Weber F-5 'Fern'.
    Lebeda F-5 "Special".
    Stelling Bellflower BANJO
    Tokai - 'Tele-alike'.
    Ellis DeLuxe "A" style.

Congratulations Chris. I've narrowed my desire down to two makes: Northfield and Altman. Either one would be a dream, so I'm happy to see someone going down that road. Do let us know how it turns out - it looks stunning.

Well do enjoy your new accomplice. If it arrives on a below freezing temp day be sure to allow it to warm up slowly. Finished can be damaged when introduced to rapid changes. R/
    I love hanging out with mandolin nerds . . . . . Thanks peeps ...

i'm in Florida. It will be in the 60's with about 80% humidity when it arrives. It did come from a cold area (Boston), however. Does anyone think that will be an issue?

It will probably take a few hours to go from the sorting facility to your front door (plenty of time to warm up to ambient temp and humidity) so you should be fine. I can't imagine waiting with the box right there in your house. The suspense would kill me. Great looking mandolin btw. Play it long and hard in good health.

Out for delivery! Should be here within a couple of hours. The anticipation is palpable. Better lay off the coffee.

Exciting! And that is just a tiny bit of an upgrade from a Rover. <Just kidding!> That is a HUGE upgrade and a very pretty mandolin. Enjoy! Video? Sound clip?

Oh, and now the only bad part is that you will get PAS and have to try and bunch of picks to hear what sounds best on your new Northfield.

I'll try to get a sound clip up. I have plenty of different picks on hand so PAS shouldn't be an issue I see you're from St. Augustine. I lived there for about ten years (90's), great little town.

Everything looks good. Tuned it up and it is set up very nicely. So far it is pretty much everything I could have hoped for.

A guy in the jam I play in has one of those, and it is a beauty. I've gotten to play on it a couple times. Very nice. Also, in one of his video replies to me from the artistworks site, Mike Marshall had one of those and whipped out a little Bach partita....awesome

Enjoy! I am waiting for my new one to arrive. Check out the thread:

Yea golfunit, I've been following your thread. That Weber looks killer. I'm an AW member as well. Seeing Mike use that Northfield on his recent lessons helped seal the deal. (I'm CSW68. I just submitted the cello suite prelude and Caterina Lichtenberg responded with a video lesson. I nearly choked on my coffee when I saw that she was doing the response.)

Great sounding mandolin, and I really mean it. One of the best sound samples I have heard.
