Hmmmh I wonder what the case looks like and if the instrument (?) possibly came from one of the Siren's of the Odyssey? Looking at it again, it looks like a stage prop from a Pirandello play from the 50's ... or not.
Mandola fever is permanent.
I am thinking it is equivalent to a seven fret guitar. From the looks of it the strings between the first and second nut make no difference at all to what comes out of the sound hole. Neither would it make any difference where you fret things between the two nuts.
I think.
I find it quite horrible ... a bit like a spooky clown, the back & head stock are quite bazaar!!
I think it has quite a 'fishy' look to it -maybe a cast off from 'The Little Mermaid -the musical'. Might go down well on Guernsey, among the grockles anyway
It might work well in Guernsey mate, I could busk on the pier for all the American cruise ship passengers
In fact our main tourism is now from the cruise ships, the first boat of the season arrives today, 4000 people invade our town only to find the shops are closed on Sundays!
There about 80 -90 cruise ship visits in the summer (about 10 different ships) & the majority are American passengers, lots of folk enjoy the German fortifications left from the 2nd world war but it does not bring in much to the overall economy. However the buskers make good money
I would also like to try it--just to see how it sounds...
Would it save you a lot of time if I just gave up and went mad now?
Cruise ships on Gurnsey Last time I was there I was on an old Baltic Trader.
It didn't sell at $249, so the seller has relisted it - and raised the price $10! That's the spirit.
But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong. - Dennis Miller
