Thread: New (to me) 1978 Ibanez 524

Default New (to me) 1978 Ibanez 524

I just picked this one up from UPS. I have never had an instrument shipped to me before so I wanted to open it up there in case there were any issues. I won it on eBay. Glad I took the risk. I didn't expect to win it but happy I did. I call it a semi-accidental win.

This thing in in great condition, other than a few dings and scratches. The neck is straight and there are no cracks or separation that I can find. It has all the original hardware and case. The outside of the case is in rough condition but still does its job. I kinda like the case being worn.
I haven't played it a lot yet but it feels and sounds good so far.

James, congratulations! Enjoy that mandolin! They made some good ones back then to compete with Gibson.

Very pretty instrument. Love the peg head
It ain't gotta be perfect, as long as it's perfect enough!

That is a fine looking mandolin. I wish I still had the Ibanez I had in 1977.
I never kept it long enough to learn how to play it.

I like the look of that "elongated" scroll.
