Delightful. I'm dying to learn to play it (do I really have a choice at this point?) but does anyone know if that was improvised, and if so to what extent? I can learn from the vid but it'd be nice to know how much they were building on East Tennessee Blues

I don't believe I've ever heard East Tennessee Blues played the same way, even by the same person. It's an easy song to add your own touches. I believe this was one of those where they start at the same time, go their separate ways and meet at the end.

I've not studied the song long but...

The first time around Compton stayed pretty close to the basic melody.
