Default Lou Martin - Recent Work

I got a copy of this album and had the local recording studio transfer it to digital. Absolutely amazing. Can't get "Monroe Rambles On" out of my head. Kicking myself for not discovering this music thirty years ago.

I like that record too. And Butch Baldassari recorded two of Lou's compositions on his "New Classics for Bluegrass Mandolin," one of which, "Down City-Part I" is on Lou's recording.

"Down City" recalls Syracuse's Down City Ramblers, a band in which Martin played mandolin. Tony Trischka was the banjo player for years as well.

Some fine playing on that recording. I think it's Russ Barenburg on guitar and Tony Trischka on banjo if I remember right. Great tunes by Lou.
