Everything is in place for the Choro workshop to start tonight. The instructor's concert is already sold out at the Wheeler Theatre on Saturday and we have the largest group ever (over 50). While many of the photos might end up being posted on FB, we'll use this thread for more mandolin specific stuff.
Last night after an pre-workshop dinner, an impromptu jam, with Dudu Maia,on bandolim, Douglas Lora on 7 string guitar, Anat Cohen on clarinet and new to the workshop this year, the amazing Eduardo Neves, on flute (he'll also be teaching sax). Not shown is Alexandre Lora on pandeiro and Jovino Santos Netos on piano, and accordion.
sorry for the poor sound quality but you'll get the idea. Dudu leads off. Jovino Santos Neto on piano, Eduardo Neve on flute, Anat Cohen on clarinet, Douglas Lora on 7 string guitar Alessandro Lora on pandeiro. Learning from these folks is just fun. Working in ensembles is the way to go when it comes to choro.

Thanks for posting that Al. It was great playing and meeting so many fine players and fine people at Centrum. I want to say that it was particularly a pleasure to meet and play with Jake Schepps, the banjo player in that photo... a very interesting and original banjo player from Boulder. Super nice guy too. Nothing like hearing that opening lick to "Pedacinhos do Ceu" done on the ol' 5-string...
