Sad news, indeed. He was a great musician, and I've heard nothing but good words about him. So many great ones leaving us lately. The Angel Band is getting another great member.

88 is a nice run, and he got to spend his life doing what he loved and what he was very good at. I saw him twice, both times within the last ten years. He and his family band put on a classy show, and the banter onstage was fun to watch. RIP, Mr Gimble.

Oh man, this hurts. But we knew this day was coming. Lighter than air swing and an old-school Texas gentleman. History is still catching up with Johnny Gimble. The quintessential essence of Texas music. Irreplaceable.

Along with Willie and Stevie Ray, Austin needs to make room for a statue.
