Smile A Classy Cohen Classical Mandolin

Some things are worth waiting for. On July 1 my friendly UPS driver pulled up out front, beeped his horn, and leaped forth from his familiar brown truck with a fair sized box under his arm. I had been waiting for him on the front porch. With box cutter in hand (one-armed I might add) I revealed a carefully packed TKL case which bore my new Cohen Classical mandolin.
It's gorgeous. And it sounds as terrific as it looks. Now I wait until physical therapy is completed and I can play again. Several times a day I just walk up to it and peak inside the case.
    Thank you, Dave.

Beautiful. Were the tuners a choice you wanted? I considered going that way with my Labraid a few years ago but the restringing daunted me.

    Thanks, Jamie.
I must admit that I simply take my mandolins in to Elderly (15 minute drive) for restringing but use Thomastiks which last many months. I liked the old-world look of these tuners.

    That is stunning!
Does it sound mostly like a L&H?

Yes, I would say it has that L&H-like tone quality. Complex with wonderful sustain and delicate trebles.

It's stunning. Congrats. It must make waiting for PT pretty tough!

I'm with Skip, get well soon. What a beautiful mandolin.

Thanks, Carl. I had planned to drive to Richmond, pick the mandolin and meet Dave in person-but it wasn't in the cards. He must have quite the shop!
I've enjoyed my phone conversations with Dr. Cohen. I always learn something new with each chat.

Lovely L and H style, and in fact are you going to play classical music on it?

    Enjoy that beauty.

David, I only play classical music. My wife will tell you I need lots of practice, too!

I'll be in Michigan over Labor Day. Sure would like to see it. What a spectacular instrument!

    Doug,
I could meet you at Elderly here in Lansing.
Let me know via PM later this summer if that works for you.

Bill: I have known the waiting period while body parts heal - doubly excruciating when you can't play a new mandolin. I hope things go well with PT and you mend, but if not... keep me in mind ()

Wow! That is seriously beautiful. Always loved the L&H style. Really, really love the slotted headstock.
