Default Elderly Instruments Mural Completed in Old Town

The Mandolin Cafe has posted the following news release:
Elderly Instruments Mural Completed in Old Town

Last Summer, Stan Werbin, owner of Elderly Instruments, approached his niece, artist Jennifer Springman, to design and paint a mural on the outside of the Elderly building. He had no idea the excitement it would bring to Lansing.

Oh! Partially hidden behind the car in the first photo? Well, glad you pointed it out, because it didn't grab my gaze. Now, the electric and acoustic guitars and banjo are enormous, larger than life, unmistakable - and that is all well and good. And I admit to a certain bias, naturally, in feeling that a mandolin should be represented in similar fashion. This is not to say this is not a fine mural, since it is, just that it could have been a little more so. I also admit to having a slight chip on my shoulder, having devoted my life to playing an instrument that often seems to be regarded as the red-headed stepchild in the family of fretted instruments. But I know I am but one small voice in the wilderness shouting vainly into the winds, and you, sir, are a giant in the industry. So for you to have heard my plea, and to have responded with appropriate humor, is a nice bit of satisfaction. Thank you!
