    Default A1 on Ebay

Seems cheap at current price of $570, although there is almost a day left. Not much in the description and the seller appears to be jewelry dealer. Looks to my untrained eye to be in decent, original condition.

Don't know a lot about Gibsons but if 50578 is the serial number that would place it in 1919, I think.

The tuners aren't original. Probably get to 8.

Non original bridge and no case (gig bag) - there looks to have been some badly done re-staining/refinishing NE of the soundhole.

It does seem to have a couple of "issues", though nothing deeply disturbing to me. Bridge, better replacements are available, tuners, well, they do wear out. It's a player not a "glass case" piece.
Who knows what it will end up going for, I'd stop right about now.

Isn't it just an A, with no headstock logo? Also, my source tells me the A-1 was discontinued in 1918 and reintroduced in 1922.

Hmm I missed the end of the auctions, I would have been tempted by that one...

there are some discontinuities about this listing. if the serial number is accurate, this A (not A-1, as Journeybear pointed out) would be dated to around 1919- not 1906, as noted by Knox Al. serial # not legible in pics. adjustable bridge looks like "after-market" large wheel non-Gibson manufactured 1920s or later. not possible to even guess at neck relief from pictures. something odd about pickguard besides the absence of the clamp. for some reason, in the fotos which should have shown fret wear, the frets themselves seem over-exposed.

looks like it went for $570.00. pretty remarkable bargain price if neck ok, it's playable, and no "hidden" damage.
