Just in case anyone was wondering who pulled the trigger on that Weber Custom Bitterroot at Capo's, it was I.

Beautiful mandolin. Killer looks, killer sound, unbelievable bargain price. MAS now officially done and over with. This will satisfy me as my lifetime number one.

Folks at Capo's were great to work with!

I wasn't sure how I was going to like the very dark "Fern Burst" finish, but the photos do not do it justice and in person it is a stunner!

    Very, very happy camper here!

Sorry, there is no cure for MAS, just treatment. It goes into remission for a period of time at each new mandolin

Congratulations to Multidon! That was a beautiful mando. Daryl, I hope I don't regret not buying it when you pointed it out to me. Oh, well. Like Mandoplumb said...

You will do it justice while I improve on my Gibson F-9, which is coming today BTW! It is on the truck for delivery, as they say.

Just though I would pass this on I have been thru several mandolins in the past few months and haven't been please with any of them and getting very discouraged. We were in Nashville and decided to check out some Gibsons just to see if they were what I was looking for. I played several and they just didn't feel right to me. So there hung a 2005 Weber Big Sky at Carter Vintage Guitar I picked it up and just couldn't put it down. It had everything I was looking for radius finger board, sounded great, played like a dream and had great chop I fell in love and it was just talking to me. I finally put it back on the rack but, couldn't get it out of mine so the next day I went back for a another look. I played it for while told my self this is it just what I been searching for. I worked out a deal with Walt Carter to put it on hold until I could back to Austin and send him some money. So after selling my other mando and a guitar I am the proud ower of the Weber Big Sky that is a keeper. So my suggestion to you go and look and find the one that talks to you it worked for me

I have a new Gibson F-9! Multidon, I love those amazing mandolins. Great pics!

Here is a quick picture. I am going to post more in the picture of my mandolin section.

Skip, as you can see I decided on an F-9. Wow, the sweetest sound, best intonation, amazing action and a warm ringing tone that I can't describe. I am in Heaven. And hardly a scratch. I know those Webers are awesome, too.

    Congrats Dan!

They are fun aren't they...mine is my "beater" if you could call it that! I just reserve my F5L for performances, because of some slight tonal differences, but I really like my F9 a bunch. Can't wait for more pics buddy!

What year is yours (give me the serial # if you don't know)?

You bet, Nick! Thanks for the assistance. I wish I could keep 'em all, but progress comes at a price (for example, our earlier mutual enjoyment of those very nice J Bovier's).

Nice pics Dan!...and a nice looking F9 there!...That thing looks new, great condition!

Dec 12 of 2007 should be a David Harvey build, which means very similar but a tad different from the Derrington builds. Harvey Gibsons have their own tonal complexitities going on...Congrats Buddy!...looks like I'm selling my F9, so I'll have to come on up to pick yours!

Hey Nick, Would love to jam some time. Thanks for the information. Funny, my (great guy, too!) seller thought he had a 2010. Or maybe he listed as bought in 2010. At any rate, you have given me some valuable information that I hadn't figured out yet. Thanks so much! When does yours go on the market? Dan

Oh, okay. I found a 2012 thread that explained the serial number interpretation for Gibson F-9's. Now to to and research David Harvey builds... Thanks again, Nick.

Hey ilovemyf-9: Thanks for the post. I really like to hear from those who are playing one already. So far, I am amazed! I put medium steel wound strings on it but want to go back to Phosphorous Bronze, and a bit lighter gauge. I have ordered GHS 10-36's. What do you have on yours?
