I think you're going to find that one is laminated. It was one of the later models. I could be wrong.

somebody's in line. Otherwise, I'll be next.

Who would pass on a $20 dollar mandolin though?

Well, at 20 bucks even the seller doesn't have much of an FI.

It is nice that they decided to let someone else have some fun with it, since money couldn't have been much of a motivating factor.

My Strad-O-Lin cost me $25. It had been sitting, it its canvas bag, and with a scary-looking top crack, under an 85-year-old lady's bed for decades. She brought it to a folk weekend where I was doing a mandolin workshop, and asked me what I thought it was worth. (This was 25 years ago, give or take.) I said, "Fixed up, it'd be worth maybe $250." She said, "Would you give me $25 for it as is?" I said, "Sure."

I got the crack fixed, cosmetically ugly but structurally sound. I had the tuner buttons replaced (they were on the verge of failure), and bought a hard case. Probably ended up with $250 into it. I've played it, recorded with it, taken it to uncounted jams and sing-arounds. It's my "go-to" for non-music trips, outdoor jaunts, casual use when I think "I should throw an instrument into the car in case there's a chance to play."

Strad-O-Lins are the "vintage" instruments that people can afford, and that regularly punch above their weights. Now the market recognizes -- at least a little more -- their value, and prices now reflect that. A bargain like this one, even if it's a laminated model, doesn't come along all that often any more.

I did, it was a cheap one (when brand new) and had a twisted neck
