Great trio, all the members are quite famous musicians on ITM scene, they have awesome sound together. Some backup on tenor guitar here, so see no reason not to post it here

    If you don't have their album - I'd highly recommend - http://greenlinnet.com/album.php?id=802

Looks like a guitar-bodied bouzouki to me - 4 courses of double strings, with regular guitar scale length...

Niall, you're right, looks like this is guitar converted to bouzouki/om, somehow I missed double strings. Can't delete my initial post, though..

Sweet. Who cares if the guitar has a few extra strings.

This is an Ian Tyson song, isn't it?

Huddie Ledbetter(Leadbelly) recorded it in Angola Prison, LA, in 1934...

I thought it was Leadbelly but most of the sites give Gallagher credit. I wonder if Rory added some verses.

Rory made it well-known. He used to play it acoustically...

The Unwanted's version definitely is based on Gallagher's rendition. A great song, nicely reborn.

Oh man, i was pretty speechless about Leadbelly! I've never heard this tune and I feel like Leadbelly's original is so rich. I need to really listen to it much more to identify what all I'm hearing... Talk about roots!
I saw Rory amplified when I was a kid. To this day it was the loudest concert I've ever seen. My ears are still ringing. So I really appreciate the solo acoustic, quite intense, with premonitions of Jack White.

Thank you for the mistaken tenor sighting Roman and everyone educating me yet again.

Seamie O'Dowd is a former member of Dervish and is in fact known more as a guitarist than a fiddler, I would say.
He plays guitar in a trio with Martin O'Connor and Cathal Hayden.
He is also a big Rory Gallagher fan. Here is his blues band at the Rory Gallagher Festival 2014.

Nifty OP performance and Leadbelly is great. I cited this song a few days ago in my FACING EVACUATION thread. The Ian & Sylvia version ran through my head as I loaded instruments, artifacts, clothes in the wagon: If your house is on fire and there ain't no water around / Throw your suitcase out the window, let the gol-durn shack burn down. It's been my soundtrack ever since.
Mandos: Coleman & Soviet ovals; Kay & Rogue A5's; Harmonia F2 & mandola
Ukuleles: 3 okay tenors; 3 cheap sopranos; Harmonia concert & baritone
Banjos: Gretsch banjolin; Varsity banjolele; Orlando 5-string; fretless & fretted Cümbüs o'uds
Acoustic guitars: Martin Backpacker; Ibanez Performance; Art et Lutherie; Academy dobro; Ovation 12-string
Others: Maffick & First Act dulcimers; Mexican cuatro-menor; Puerto Rican cuatro; Martin tiple; electrics
    Wanted: charango; balalaika; bowlback mando
