John Playford’s [1623-1686] the Division Violin
I hope it can be useful.

Some of them requires speed -- that can be better achieved with a bow... --, none goes beyond 1st position.
Ciao.

Re: John Playford’s [1623-1686] the Division Violin
Thanks, Fernando.
I'm playing some of these -- they are considerably more difficult than Playford's Dancing Master, but also more appealing as performance pieces as they do not require as much additional arranging to make then interesting.
Here are some I have recorded a few years ago (mostly a bit on the slow side, to make the faster variations playable):
Johnny, Cock Thy Beaver (mandolin and bouzouki):
Greensleeves To A Ground (two mandolas/waldzithers and tenor guitar):
John Banister: A Division Upon A Ground (solo mandolin, somewhat rough):
Faronell's Ground (La Folia variations):
Greensleeves To A Ground (solo mandolin):

Thanks for posting - I had forgotten about that Playford edition.
