Tim Connell
Concert and Workshop
Saturday, November 14, 2015
Tim Connell is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music and is currently an Adjunct Professor of Music at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR. He is well-known to acoustic music fans as an top-tier mandolinist, touring internationally with Rio Con Brio and Mike Marshall's Ger Mandolin Orchestra.

Tim Connell (timconnellmusic.com) will teach a hands-on, general mandolin class for all levels. After breaking down what he’s learned about the instrument over the years, Tim will provide participants a hands-on experience with the mandolin, tackling right- and left-hand technique, basic theory and chord formation and improvisation techniques. Students will leave this workshop able to play three different inversions of the major and minor chords – six movable chord shapes. Tim presents a simple theoretical explanation and visual framework (hand-outs included) for forming melodies and chords anywhere on the neck. There will also be time for Q&A and help with individual issues that participants may be having.
