Is this a Gibson A5g equivalent?
Yup.I'm not sure if the pickguard is original but that is the equivalent of an A5G, bound front, unbound back.

I'll be curious to see what that goes for as there's a chance that I might have to sell mine; and that would kill me!...Awesome mando!

If I was looking for one I'd grab it. I just have too many new acquisitions right now.

Just to update this thread for anyone doing research...
When researching these mandolins, and eventually buying a 1994 Performer A, and a 1995 Gibson A-5G, I found these mandolins are not equivalent
in build or sound. The performer a has parallel tone bars whereas the Gibson A-5G has an angled tonebar on the bass side. Also the Gibson A-5G has
an elevated and extended fingerboard. My two mandolins with exact same strings and setup do not sound the same. The Gibson is more balanced and
the flatiron has more mids. Is one better? Well, that depends what you're looking for. In my opinion neither is clearly better than the other.
