I surprised myself this year and didn’t ask Santa for anything musical this year. Why not? Well, primarily because I don’t need anything at the moment. But what are you hoping to find under the tree on Monday morning?

More practice time
Honestly, just more time spent playing music with friends...
And maybe a new Wegan or BC
Some CDs and some books.
I've bribed Santa to bring me a new (used) mandolin, but it won't be here until after Christmas.
D.H.
I gave Santa's elves information about a few books (The Celtic Mandola Book, Blues Mandolin, and R Crumb's Heroes of Blues, Jazz & Country) plus some pointy Pickboy picks for my bowlback.
I also discussed with Santa a Klos CF Mandolin, but he is not able to get those any sooner than anyone else can
Santa is definitely bringing me tickets to see Mike Marshall and Daryl Anger at the Groton Hill Music Center in MA, it's a wonderful venue and I can't wait.

I'm all right. I got my "Christmas present" real early, back in late summer, when my new home dropped in my lap. There is a chimney, but the fireplaces are boarded over, so it's just as well for him, too.
So I asked him to bring peace on earth and good will to men - and women, too. Some carols need to be updated, but it's hard to adjust traditions - and meter.
But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong. - Dennis Miller

The older I get, the less tolerant I am of political correctness, incompetence and stupidity.
I asked to get my young fingers back.
A plane ticket and some more picks
He came early, bringing my a Northfield “The Rival” archtop guitar on Wednesday.
An Eastman MDO305E-SB octave mandolin.
The Mandolin Store has faster shipping than Santa, though, so it already came.

The old hippy in me asked Santa for Peace and Love!
Happy holidays, guys.
The Eastman 315 was my gift to myself.
From others I asked for a strap, several different picks and types of strings, a metronome and the book Mandolin from Scratch.
I bought myself a couple sets of Curt Mangan light Monel Strings to try out on my 1922 Gibson A-2. I had a coupon code and was able to save 20%.
Asked Santa to bring me something different. Not the usual spruce and maple. Oh, and in the shape of an A model.
It just might work. (Apologies to Gene Wilder.)

Now that may be more than Santa can provide from his factory on that ever-dwindling polar ice shield...
the world is better off without bad ideas, good ideas are better off without the world
Santa, in the shape of my faraway eldest son, sent me a music shop voucher.
And my other family will most likely send me bottles of single malt, to which I have no objection.
As it happened, I was discussing mics with the fiddler at our Christmas ceilidh on Saturday night and he showed me his 30yo (approx) SM57, still going strong, so I think I know what I'll buy with the voucher.
It's about time I turned up to drop-in gigs with a mic as well, rather than just my instrument, which puts a strain on the availability of band-owned mics.
Any advice about leads?
Here are pictures, if I can get them to show up, of the ceilidh crowd doing a run-through on Saturday night. I love playing dances!

Well, I did not ask for anything but yesterday I found an Apollo "Mike Marshall" signature pick that I lost about six months ago. Happy day.
