Hardly short of knighthood, at last it goes to somebody who deserved it:
“The cantankerous old git” awarded an MBE
P.S. just saw that G7MOF beat me to it (in the General section)

"Cantankerous old git" - a luthier friend of mine still insists in calling him "Barry".

From Ray(T) - "......and I bet nobody on the US side of the Atlantic understands that one !"- ''Barry Bucknall' was the presenter of a UK TV DIY programme back in the 1950 / 60's. So Barry & Roger Bucknall do have something in common, they sawed up wood for a living !!. The outcome's however, were slightly 'different',

Barry and Roger did indeed have something in common, but they did not share a common surname.
Roger's surname is Bucknall, and Barry's surname was Bucknell ... the conflation of the two is a pleasant joviality nonetheless ...
....well at least I got the term "pleasant joviality" out of all that. What a nice term.
