Default Telemann: Duetto Affetuoso (TWV 40:107a)

Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767), TWV 40:107a:
Duetto a Flauti dolci, o a Flauti Traversi, o a Viole di Gamba
    (1) Affetuoso

    From: "Der getreue Music-Meister", 1728

This is a lovely baroque duet by Telemann, intended for flutes or viols, but equally nice on other melody instruments.

    Score available at IMSLP:

I have played the Affetuoso as a duet of mandolin and my new parlour-sized tenor guitar (much the same body shape and size as a Baroque guitar), straight from the IMSLP score in G major.

    1890s Umberto Ceccherini mandolin
    Vintage Viaten tenor guitar

Very nice. The new tenor sounds particularly bright and full. Congratulations!

Lovely piece and performance! I love the tenor guitar's sound! It sounds like it would be a great instrument on which to play continuo parts.

Thanks for the go-by! I do duets with a guitar buddy and this will fit nicely with the Telemann Canonic Sonata in G that we've about got in the can. We're doing all three parts and it's a blast. I'll enjoy learning this - all in good time. I'm also working up the Bach Inventions and have one or two of those to play next month also!

    Your instruments are great!

Thanks a lot! Yes, the bright tone of the Viaten tenor guitar is great for continuo parts. I've used it for the continuo on four Baroque pieces so far (all posted with links to the scores):

    Trios:
    Thomas Arne
    Francisco Antonio Bonporti

    Duets:
    Domenico Scarlatti
    Marin Marais
