1. Barcarole (Lever du soleil sur Sainte Victoire)

Arranged for mandolin orchestra/quartet by Sylvain Dagosto.

This is the opening movement of a short suite of atmospheric pieces about Provence -- in this instance, sunrise over the iconic Mont Sainte Victoire. That gives me an easy visual theme, with a selection of Cezanne's 60+ paintings of that mountain. Same composer as the Gavotina I posted yesterday, and the score is again from the Nakano archive.

Recorded as a mandolin quartet. As the movement is very short, I'm playing it twice using continuous tremolo the second time.

Not that I'm aware of. It's mainly famous for having been painting an unfeasibly large number of times by Cezanne...
