Do you have more photos than just those two? one of the back of the neck would help as well as the bowl and from the butt-end.
I would guess Italian. The headstock is fairly common but with that unusual scratchplate it might be from Catania group of luthiers. Out friend Dave Hynds set up this pictorial for Italian makers. You can check there for similarities. Look at the bottom of the page for alphabetical listings.
