    Default Celluloid Jim Dunlop

just an FYI I find the edge quality on these picks to be better then many celluloid picks
I have tried...perhaps even last longer

I have a Blue Chip in every case but prefer celluloid sometimes

Celluloid is a great pick material-- an oldie but a goodie. I have some clown barf heavy celluloid picks that cost like 56 cents apiece in a pack of 10. They play as well as anything I've tried, and look great in a retro sort of way. Easy to find if you drop them on the floor too.

I agree completely. My main pick is a Blue Chip, but sometimes I just have to play with a celluloid Jim Dunlop Heavy. I keep a few in my case. I also keep one in my wallet, just in case I find an unexpected opportunity to try out an instrument. I've tried other celuloids, but like Dunlops the best.

When they wear, rubbing the edge back and forth across newspaper very rapidly will bring it renewed life. The friction on the newspaper heats it up a bit and the edge becomes like new again.

Good to know...never heard of the newspaper trick. I've used jeans for the same purpose.

Now for the important question does celluloid color affect tone?

the Dunlop pick variety pack (either Lite-Med or Med-Heavy) has a couple of those, i think, along with 1 primetone and delrin/nylon, tortex, ultex, gator grip etc.

Hard to find on their website tho: http://store.jimdunlop.com/k/search?q=variety+pack (and the older packs that have been sitting around the stores won't have the primetone but still a good deal

I have got to say the "v-picks" (clear ones anyway) are the most strong legged "run when they hit the floor" picks I have ever had! Drop one, it's gone! The red"Jalapeņo" does not seem to have the same problem. I like it quite a bit.
