    plays Flatiron octave mandolin on his Affordable Art album he is holding it on album's cover photo and there is a picture of him playing it on the back.

    Steve Earle - there is a YouTube video of him playing a Weber Sage.

    Famous Irish bouzouki players (GDAD) we have a-plenty, but how about OM players?
    This a rather silly and pretty irrelevant distinction, imo. You can play just about any genre tuned either way (GDAD or GDAE). One 'de-tuned" set of strings does not a different instrument make. I suppose what you really mean is bluegrass & old-time played on oversized mando?

    Somebody listed Danny Carnahan, but we forget Paul Kotapish, also of Wake the Dead!

    Also Mandolin Cafe's Allen Hopkins. Yes I still have and love my Thistledown cassette!
