This a rather silly and pretty irrelevant distinction, imo. You can play just about any genre tuned either way (GDAD or GDAE). One 'de-tuned" set of strings does not a different instrument make. I suppose what you really mean is bluegrass & old-time played on oversized mando?Famous Irish bouzouki players (GDAD) we have a-plenty, but how about OM players?
