    Default Frederick Maryland?

We'll be moving from upstate NY to the Frederick MD area this summer and I'd like to find an open Celtic or Old Time session or two. I love to listen to Bluegrass but don't play it.
I'm also open to suggestions for where to go to listen to acoustic music. The Weinberg is the only one I know of so far.
Any and all other suggestions for this area would also be welcomed. Thanks

I know there was a place at Boe's Strings in downtown Frederick, but Boe's closed a few years ago. Here is a link you can use to give he a call and see where there may be a jam:

I can only play half as much as I want, because I only play half as much as I would like.

Thanks for the suggestions. We were down there this weekend looking at houses and I'm really getting excited about the move. Took a nice little hike in Gambrill State Park, ate at the Brew'd Pub, visited the Frederick visitor's center and loaded up on reading materials. This is gonna be fun!

Be sure to visit Loudoun County for a lot of great music. Winter time there is live bluegrass with serious acts in Lucketts. Berkley Springs WV also has plnry of stuff going on. Also, lots of music in and around Leesburg. Welcome to the area!

There's a coffee shop in Brunswick, which is about 15 miles from Frederick, which has an old time jam on the first and third Sunday of the month. On other days they have Bluegrass and other musical events.

    Their web site is http://www.beansinthebelfry.com

The Friday night jam at Beck and Benedicts Hardware in Waynesboro PA does continue with considerable vigor, f-d. But it is pretty much straight ahead bluegrass. Long may it reign! I've never been to the monthly jam in Round Hill, VA, but I'm told that it has something for every acoustic player. (My space buggy doesn't go that far ) I'd like to second bohemianbiker's mention of the Beans old-time jam in Brunswick; cozy venue, very welcoming, and seriously energetic old time music played. https://www.sites.google.com/site/oldtimefrederick/home

There is a good Bluegrass Jam in Waynesboro PA on Fridays. (30 min from Frederick) at the Beck and Benedict Hardware store. On Thursdays, In Shepardstown, WV (40 min from Frederick) has an Old Time jam on Thursdays at O'Hurleys General Store.

Don`t put much stock in the jams listed on DC Bluegrass Union web site, they haven`t updated that for at least three years....
