Re: Old S.S. Stewart Ukulele
According to this thread on the Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum, Stewart used the blue oval label in the 1940's. At that point Samuel Stewart had been dead 40 years, and the "S S Stewart" label, once associated with some very fine and unusual banjos, had been passed around, including acquisition by Buegeleisen and Jacobson (B & J), the major distributor of a wide variety of instruments made by many manufacturers.
Gibson made some S S Stewart-labeled ukuleles, but this one doesn't look Gibsonian to me. Concur with Jim G's advice to try a uke website.
