    Ideally, your left hand shouldn't be involved in ensuring the position of the instrument at all. It shouldn't be a matter of free*eer*, but that the hand is free from the get go.

    You may want to put a toneguard on the back so your man-boobs don't dampen the sound of your man-dolin.
