Default Black electric Gibson 2 poiont

Very cool. Rare in black. Condition would probably be an issue for most buyers. Price seems high for the condition, but it would be hard to find another one. They sound great -- google Cowboy Junkies Live at Newport 2008.

Paul Newman/Jackie Gleason connection is wonderful, but unfortunately can't be proven and would add zero to the value, IMHO.

"The neck (fretboard forward from the nut) has an area
where the finish was stripped and re-lacquered clear
    to accommodate a capo"
I don't know whether this is really what happened the neck, but I cant figure what possible benefit could be gained from this modification. I guess when you're explaining, you're loosing.

There was one we discussed here about a year ago, also in black, and showed even more wear. It seems it went for $1700 or so on eBay.

I am not a fan of black but I lust for a two-point. Price will probably keep them forever out of reach.

Way too much money considering the condition.

Unconfirmable provenance, weird "improvements", what is the Les Paul connection, or any other connections really worth? Looks like a not very well maintained black finished, nothing special piece of what's now referred to as "Mid century/ Mad Men" anachronistic hooey. Unless it offers "Leonard Nimoy's DNA" it's not $4500 cool!

For some reason the listing has been pulled. Did someone buy it?

I just clicked it and it is still for sale. It has about 7 hours to go. I'm not buying the "capo" story. Not sure what is going on there. The blurry pictures don't help, either. There is no Les Paul connection other than the seller is probably a guitar guy and wants it to show up in a Les Paul search. His attitude doesn't help his cause when he mentions there are no buyers anymore on eBay, except dealers who want to resell and "millennials" with no money. He has grown tired of eBay. Very tired. (actually, I've wondered this myself, but I don't know how to turn back time to 2006 when people actually spent money on toys -- and reminding people of this isn't going to make them suddenly start spending again......) It sets such a scolding tone, like you really want to deal with this guy?

I'm thinking a really clean one might be worth $3500, but it might take a while to find a buyer. One with this much wear has to be priced right.

I agree with Jeff Mando about the guys attitude. Not somebody that I'd want to deal with.

It's on Reverb also and he says this at the end of his description

As I have learned well here on Reverb
an item can have lots of viewers but sit for a year
    without a serious buyer.
    So very simply said:
I can't wait on this one.

Well, if he can't wait, he needs to take the red pill and come up with a realistic price.

They might not be spending three grand on vintage mandolins, but people still buy the right toys at the right price. I've sold a few tablets / MP3 players / action cameras that went pretty quick at the right price. I've had a few sell within an hour of first listing.

As of this writing, it has been pulled from eBay but is still listed on Reverb.
