Default How do I link to another thread?

I have seen posts where a link is included to another thread on MC. How do they do this? I searched the thread I want to refer to and the URL is a long address including the search words. The one's I have seen are fairly short URLs. Is there a trick to this?

    Thanks,

It's pretty easy. Copy and paste the link into the thread and the system will shorten like this:

    http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/sh...read&p=1514118

You can also highlight a word with your mouse, click on the globe icon and paste the link in like this.

I added bold text to that link as well.

What are you trying to link to? You really can't link to a Cafe search string because that search string belongs only to you. I have a software tool I wrote that allows me to paste a search into a thread but most of the time I simply use a Google search of the Cafe for those links.

Thanks Mike, I didn't know the system would shorten it for me so I thought I was doing something wrong.

If you click the number to the right in the dark gray bar above each post it will create in the URL field in your browser the exact link to that post. Probably plenty of people that don't know that and it's a very handy option.

Thanks Scott, that is very handy.

I was searching for an older thread and I noticed that the search term came up in the URL for that thread once I clicked on it. At least it seemed that was the case. I was guessing there was an easier way to come up with a shortened URL.
